eastern market.

in search of both thanksgiving hostess gifts and a possible addition to my bedroom furniture, i dragged my roommate and childhood friend along with me to eastern market, camera in hand.  i came up short on both quests, but my love for shooting markets like this one was only reaffirmed.

skyline drive: shots of the shenandoah.

admittedly, i knew nothing of skyline drive until my boss mentioned it during a discussion of d.c.’s gorgeous fall foliage.  just over an hour outside the beltway, this 100+ mile road snakes through shenandoah national park with over 75 scenic overlooks facing east and west.  matt and i set out for the northern entrance in the early afternoon this past saturday, made it about one third of the way south, and turned back to watch the sunset on our way home.  while i wish we’d made it out about one week earlier (some of the trees were looking a little bare), all in all, it was absolutely spectacular.  the blue ridge mountains lived up to their name, and the countless shades of red, gold and orange were a perfect final autumn fix as we head into a crispy winter.

we even caught some sort of photo shoot at our final stop and boy, did i NOT envy that model — let’s just say her ensemble was not fit for the temperatures we experienced at that altitude.

#colorsorganizedneatly

it is safe to say this is my new favorite hashtag to follow on instagram because of the amazing formations people put together with just plain old stuff. inspiration struck while taking a long walk on a sunny and chilly afternoon last weekend, so here is one of my attempts to join the ranks of @thuglifeforevs, et al.
