my parents would tell you that their thumbs are a pretty weak shade of green, but i beg to differ. i found their garden fully in bloom when i visited in august, and given my strong inclination to shoot these pretty young things, i was thrilled.
this photograph, which is one of my most favorite that i’ve ever taken, won 1st place in the category of food in the 2014 iphone photography awards. i am completely humbled to be chosen, and totally psyched! i originally posted it on instagram, and here.
it is often lamented that people never put down their phones these days, and i can absolutely be guilty of that, but i like to think that’s because, most of the time, i am taking pictures with mine. the ease and convenience of my iphone camera, coupled with the high quality photos it produces, qualify it as an irreplaceable tool for me!
the contest has been getting some attention around the web, which is pretty cool: mac rumors; the daily mail; geek sugar; imore; vanity fair italia; inside mobile apps; yahoo! news; the verge; business insider; the independent; buzzfeed; bored panda; huffpost; american photo magazine; the washington post.
a HUGE thank you to the judges at IPPA, and to all my sweet friends and family who have reached out. like i said — totally psyched!
p.s. (this photo, another favorite, received ‘honorable mention’ in the nature category, too, so i feel like i should give it some love):
